Race SLO adds unique ultra run to its family of annual central coast events; debut ultra, hosted by HomeFed and benefitting The Land Conservancy, features three challenging trail courses — 50 mile, marathon and half-marathon — at Wild Cherry Canyon in Avila Beach on Saturday, September 10, 2016; registration is open at www.SLOultra.com
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — (December 1, 2015) — Race SLO, the Central Coast’s endurance sporting event leader, has announced registration is open for the inaugural SLO Ultra trail race. The event, featuring trail 50 mile, trail marathon, trail half-marathon and trail 5 mile courses limited to 200 runners per distance (5 mile limited to 100), will be run through the private Wild Cherry Canyon property on Saturday, September 10, 2016.
In partnership with HomeFed, the Official Host of the event, and The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, the event’s beneficiary, the SLO Ultra will showcase a beautiful natural resource to runners and hikers alike for the first time on California’s incredible Central Coast. Wild Cherry Canyon is approximately 2,400 private acres located on the Pacific Ocean along the Central Coast, northwest of Avila Beach and south of San Luis Obispo.
“The inaugural event will be a unique outdoor lovers event in breathtaking Wild Cherry Canyon, and all levels of both runners and hikers will appreciate the exclusive access to these trail courses as well as the post-race BBQ and bluegrass festival,” said Samantha Pruitt, Race SLO Founder & CEO. “We also are grateful to the generosity of HomeFed as our inaugural SLO Ultra host. They share our long-term vision of allowing trail users of all types to be able to access this incredible property.”
In addition to the individual races, there will be a Bluegrass Festival and fresh BBQ to celebrate all of the participants. The North Face gear will be the featured participant swag along with race medals and awards for top three overall in all races.
