New race promotes youth fitness with a quarter-mile dash for children ages 4–10
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — The San Luis Obispo Marathon, Half Marathon + 5K is adding a Children’s Fun Run to its race roster. The race is sponsored by Central Coast Gymnastics, a local San Luis Obispo company that has been teaching children the benefits of physical fitness for 22 years. The run will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 9:45 a.m. at the Madonna Inn. The children will participate in a quarter-mile dash on the bike path that is the finish chute for the marathon and half marathon. They will receive a t-shirt and a bib for their entry.
“It’s important to get children interested in physical fitness at a young age,” says Heather Hellman, SLO Marathon Event Director. “The race is to let them have fun, feel good about themselves and participate in our larger event knowing that fitness is a lifelong fun effort. We’re so happy to have Central Coast Gymnastics as our sponsor as they have the same mission.”
